Homewood Hall of Fame induction luncheon Oct. 26 | Registration deadline Oct. 10

The deadline to make reservations to attend the 2014 Homewood Hall of Fame induction ceremony and luncheon is Friday, Oct. 10.

The event was announced at the Village Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday, Sept. 9, by Homewood Heritage Committee Chairwoman Elaine Egdorf. A reception will begin at noon at Calumet Country Club, followed by luncheon and induction ceremony at 1 p.m. The cost is $45.

To make a reservation or for more information, call 708-206-3393.

“The Village of Homewood Heritage Committee will recognize five current or past residents who have made significant and beneficial contributions to the life and well being of the village of Homewood over a span of time,” she said at the meeting.

She announced the 2014 inductees:

  • The late Jerald C. Brandt, a former Homewood police chief and commander of the Wally Burns VFW post,
  • William Luke, a teacher who developed Homewood elementary district music programs,
  • Shelly Marks Homewood District 153 board president,
  • The late Arthur F. Senior Jr., a civic leader, founder of the Memorial Chapter of Izaak Walton League, and a photographer who took pictures of parades and around town,
  • Carol Wiksten, a nurse and instructor who developed the original paramedics program at Ingalls Hospital.

“We always have a good time visiting with people and learning about the people who make this town what it was,” Egdorf said.
