Candidates being interviewed for H-F High board position

The District 233 school board will meet in special session Thursday, July 14, to interviewing five of the 12 candidates interested in filling a vacancy on the school board serving Homewood-Flossmoor High School.

Interviews with the finalists – selected from seven Flossmoor and five Homewood residents – will begin at 6:30 p.m.  at the high school. The interviews will be closed to the public.

The person selected will fill a position previously held by David Mayer who resigned June 22 after the board decided to buy out the contract of H-F principal Ryan Pitcock.

The new board member may be announced at the end of the meeting. The board has until Aug. 6 to make the appointment. The person will be seated at the Aug. 16 regular meeting of the board.

The person named will serve until the April 2017 local elections. At that time, voters will be selecting three District 233 board members.
