Flossmoor baseball, softball seasons start April 25

A 72-year-old Park Forest man was injured last Friday, April 10, when his car collided with a Positive Connections bus on its way to Western Avenue School.

According to a report from the Flossmoor Police Department, the accident took place at 7:50 a.m. on Vollmer Road and Oak Lane Road, just east of the Metra viaduct. Both the school bus and the man’s car, a 2008 Ford Fusion, had to be towed from the accident scene but there were no injuries to either the bus driver or the 10 students who were passengers.

The bus driver, who was turning onto Vollmer from Oak Lane, was ticketed for failure to yield, the report states. The driver of the Ford Fusion was westbound on Vollmer when his car struck the bus. The car suffered extensive damage on the driver’s side. The driver was transported to South Suburban Hospital by a Flossmoor Fire Department ambulance.

Police said the driver of the car was ticketed for not having insurance.
