Laugh, toast, ponder, and thoroughly enjoy yourself when David Boyle premieres a new solo storytelling show, “Church Stories for Grown-ups,” a benefit for the H-F MasterSingers 2016 Tour.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Flossmoor Community Church Community House, 2218 Hutchison Road. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Boyle will donate the majority of the proceeds to help fund the MasterSingers Tour to Vienna, Budapest and Prague. This show, for persons 21 and older, includes two adult beverages per ticket and is also BYOB.

Boyle’s solo show “An Accidental Organist” debuted at Gorilla Tango Theater in Chicago in 2010. The Chicago Reader’s Tony Adler recommended it and wrote, “The piece as a whole is a well-wrought mix of wit, cussedness, close observation and earned emotion.”
Since then Boyle has performed the show at The Music Station, the Elgin Fringe Festival and Chicago Solo Theatre. In “Church Stories for Grown-ups,” Boyle digs a little deeper and offers four stories with themes of friendship, self-determination, humor and unexpected grief.
“David Boyle wove humor through a story of loss that had audience members alternately gasping for air and wiping away tears,” wrote Eric Crump in a November 2014 story in the H-F Chronicle about Homewood Stories, where Boyle has performed several times.
The H-F MasterSingers Tour 2016 is sponsored by the Homewood-Flossmoor Fine and Performing Arts Council (HFFPAC), an independent organization to support local youth music programs, and HF Choral Parents, a volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the H-F High School choir program.
