Winter weather advisory issued for Saturday

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Homewood-Flossmoor area Saturday, Jan. 3. 

The forecast calls for a precipitation gumbo Saturday, with periods of snow, sleet, freezing drizzle and rain throughout the day, NWS officials said.

Precipitation is expected to start as snow and sleet tonight and change into freezing rain or drizzle during the morning hours and become all rain by late morning.

Light snow could continue through Sunday, but only minor accumulations of snow and sleet are expected. There could be a light glaze of ice Saturday morning. Travel cold be hazardous.
