DQ opening day: Ice cream and ice cream weather arrive together

Ryan Pitcock

Dr. Ryan Pitcock, principal at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, has been nominated for the 2015 Golden Apple Stanley C. Golder Leadership Award.

A member of the selection committee will visit Homewood-Flossmoor in future weeks to discuss and observe Pitcock’s leadership among staff, students, parents and community members.

This is only the second year the Golden Apple Foundation will honor a principal or head of school for transformative excellence in school leadership. The recipient also receives a $10,000 cash award with $2,000 going towards a professional-development experience and $8,000 to the school for a project chosen by the recipient.

The selected Golder recipient then will be honored on WTTW-Channel 11 at the Golden Apple Awards Gala on Oct. 30.
