H-F Foundation awards 14 scholarships

Graduating high school students who live in Homewood are eligible for a $1,000 scholarship from the Homewood Police Association.

The Officer Paul Edward Buckley Memorial Scholarship is awarded “to an individual who is committed to public service,” according to information from the association.

The deadline for submitting an application is June 15. Applications are available 24 hours a day at the Homewood Police Department, 17950 Dixie Highway.

Applications should be submitted to Scholarship Applications, Homewood Police Association, attention D. McGrath, 17950 Dixie Highway, to [email protected] or by fax to 708-206-3497.

The scholarship honors the memory of Buckley, who in 1920 “died while dedicating his life to public service,” according to the application form.

To be eligible, an applicant must be a U.S. citizen, a Homewood resident and be a member of the 2014-2015 graduating class.

Achievements the association values include 

  • Participation in organizations or programs that benefit the community at large
  • Academic excellence
  • Involvement in extra-curricular school activities.
