Suspect arrested following Flossmoor home break-in

Charges are pending against a person who broke into a Flossmoor home early on Wednesday and ordered a resident and her child to leave the residence, police said.

According to an ECOP alert from the Flossmoor police, the person was arrested without incident and was in custody later in the day on Dec. 7.

The incident began at approximately 6:50 am in the 2200 Block of Carroll Parkway, police said. A homeowner told police that a suspicious person entered her home through an unlocked rear door.

The resident said the subject told her to leave the house with her child, leaving the male homeowner alone in the house with the subject. She left in her vehicle and called 911.

Responding officers arrived and made contact with the resident still inside the house, who pointed in the direction of where the individual was hiding. A weapon was recovered following the arrest, police said. The suspect’s car was located in the 1000 block of Gardner Road.

No one was injured in the incident, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed the individual might have been randomly knocking on residents’ doors prior to this incident.

Flossmoor police are asking residents who live in this area to contact the Investigations Division at 708-957-4500 if they heard a suspicious knock or observed anyone at about the time of the incident.
