H-F High principal position draws 62 candidates

The search firm BWP and Associates received 62 applications for the principal’s job at Homewood-Flossmoor High School.

Applications closed Dec. 20. Philip Ehrhardt of BWP said candidates were primarily from Illinois but the position did also draw candidates from other states.

BWP has four primary consultants working on the search. Ehrhardt said they are going through the applications and conducting screening interviews.

“At the Jan. 17 school board meeting we will be giving an update of the search process,” he said.  By that point, BWP will have winnowed down the applicant pool and come to a list of potential candidates that will be shared, in executive session, with the school board’s Personnel Committee and Superintendent Von Mansfield.

The committee will schedule appointments with the finalists to have them visit H-F and meet with staff, students and community members.

Ehrhardt expects a finalist will be offered a contract in February. The start date for the job is July 2017.

The board released Ryan Pitcock from his principal contract in June 2016. He had been principal for eight years.

The principal’s job remains unfilled this school year. The board decided the principal’s position’s workload would be shared by other staff members while the search process continues.
