Flossmoor teen dies in car fire Monday

An 18-year-old Flossmoor man died Monday afternoon in a vehicle fire in Homewood, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

 
Hunter S. Craig,18, of the 2100 block of Vardon Lane, was pronounced dead at the scene. Hunter S. Craig,18, of the 2100 block of Vardon Lane, was pronounced dead at the scene. After an examination of his body on Tuesday, the medical examiner’s office determined the death was a suicide. 
 
Homewood public safety personnel were called to Patriot’s Park, 1300 W. 187th St., shortly after 2 p.m. after receving a report of a car on fire.
When they arrived, crews found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames, according to Homewood police. Once the fire was extinguished, public safety personnel found Craig’s body in the vehicle.
 
The Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit is conducting an investigation with assistance from the Homewood Fire Department, Illinois State Police Division of Forensic Services and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
