Chicago Shakespeare Theater performs abridged ‘Romeo and Juliet’ at Prairie State College April 27

The community is invited to an April 27 performance of “Short Shakespeare! Romeo and Juliet,” given by the Chicago Shakespeare Theater at Prairie State College (PSC), 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights.
The 75-minute abridged presentation will begin at 11 a.m. in the Barnes & Noble College Auditorium on campus. Theater director Marti Lyons and the cast will hold a question and answer session after the performance.
“This is some of the best Shakespeare theater available in the world, right here on the PSC campus,” said Justin Vidovic, associate professor of English and Liberal Arts at PSC.
The PSC Foundation and the Division of Academic Affairs are helping to support this performance. Tickets are $10 with a reduced price of $5 for PSC students. Tickets are being sold through the PSC business office. Tickets also will be sold at the door.
Chicago Shakespeare Theater produces award-winning plays on its home stage on Navy Pier, on stages around the world, thoroughout Chicago’s neighborhoods and at Chicago schools. The company has been honored with numerous national and international awards, including the Regional Theater Tony Award, three Laurence Olivier Awards and 77 Joseph Jefferson Awards. It was the 2012 recipient of the Folger Shakespeare Library’s national Shakespeare Steward Award for innovative teaching of Shakespeare in American classrooms.
