Homewood man charged in 2 bank robbery incidents

A Homewood man faces a number of charges after allegedly robbing one local bank and attempting to rob another on Wednesday, Aug. 10.

Brandon Darty, 24, of the 19100 block of Pierce Ave., was charged with felony robbery of a financial institution and misdemeanor aggravated assault and resisting a peace officer.

Homewood police said Darty approached a teller at TCF Bank, 17830 Halsted St., shortly before 11 a.m. and demanded $300. When the teller refused, Darty allegedly told the teller he was going to get a weapon and return to rob the bank.

He then went to BMO Harris Bank at 17600 Halsted St. and demanded money.  He left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Darty was subsequently taken into custody.

According to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office, he appeared in court on Aug. 11, where his bond was set at $5,000 by Judge Darron Bowden. Darty’s next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 8.
