Electronics recycling offered at Homewood village hall on Saturday, other services scheduled in coming weeks

Homewood officials announced this week that several popular services for residents are scheduled for coming weeks, including paper shredding, electronics recycling, prescription drug disposal and branch chipping.

Electronics recycling, 8 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 26. Computers, printers, monitors, cell phones, CD drives, server equipment and peripherals will be accepted. No televisions. Sponsored by UCP Seguin, an affiliate of United Cerebral Palsy, an organization that helps people with disabilities achieve their potential.

Paper shredding, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 30. Mayor Richard Hofeld said because the date falls on Yom Kippur and could not be changed, residents who observe the holiday can contact Allisa Opyd at 708-798-3000 to make other arrangements. 

Branch chipping, 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 7. Branches from deciduous trees, only. No evergreens. 

Prescription drug disposal, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14. Sponsored by Cook County.

Paper shredding, electronics recycling and drug disposal will take place in the village hall parking lot, 2020 Chestnut Road. Branch chipping will take place at Homewood Public Works, 17755 Ashland Ave.
