Mark your calendars for Jan. 20, the date for the live and silent auction and party supporting the Homewood-Flossmoor High School Vikings Orchestra trip to Germany.

Mark your calendars for Jan. 20, the date for the live and silent auction and party supporting the Homewood-Flossmoor High School Vikings Orchestra trip to Germany.

The “Wanderlust Fest” party is set to start at 6:30 p.m. and go until 10 p.m. It will feature a variety of German foods, including roast chicken, sausage and sauerkraut casserole, German potato salad, potato cheese soup and other delights.

The South Building cafeteria will be transformed for the party and students will be providing entertainment throughout the evening. Special auction prizes include four lower-level box White Sox tickets; a teen driving course from Redd Driving School; a golf package for four at Olympia Fields Golf Course; and a day at the Marc Allen Spa.

“The students have been fundraising for almost a year to assist with the cost of this amazing opportunity,” said Belinda Porter, the program’s media and communications chairman. “This event is the largest and final fundraising event for the tour. Come out and enjoy the best party of the season while supporting our community’s most deserving musicians.”

This year’s trip took a detour to western Europe from the original Cuba destination. The revised itinerary has musicians performing for a week in Potsdam, Leipzig and Brandenburg, Germany, and participating in workshops and exchanges.

The party is hosted by the Homewood-Flossmoor Fine and Perfoming Arts Council Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting the fine arts at H-F.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Students are selling the tickets now. Tickets are also available at UpsaDaisy Boutique, 18100 Martin Ave. in Homewood, or online at hfmusictours.weebly.com.

Homewood-Flossmoor High School District 233 is not sponsoring the H-F FPAC trip to Germany March 22 to March 30, 2018, and assumes no liability relating to or arising from students’ preparation for or participation in this trip.
