James Hart students can reclaim decades-old art from Homewood Public Library

Students sometimes fail to pick up works of art at the ends of semesters, and some art teachers are reluctant to throw out unclaimed work.

John Ray, retired James Hart School art teacher, kept student art for years, and he recently sought the help of the Homewood Public Library to give former students an opportunity to reclaim their artwork.

For the next few weeks, the library is making the art available for Ray’s former students to reclaim if they wish. The collection is located in the main library area, just inside the lobby doors, according to Library Director Amy Crump.

The work is all two-dimensional ― drawings and paintings ― and was probably produced by students who attended James Hart in the 1980s and 1990s.
