Coyote Run golf fees will hold steady in 2017

Golfers will tell you it’s never too early to think about getting back on the links. Lucky for them, there will not be any additional costs in 2017 at Coyote Run Golf Course.

After hearing a report from Tom Denklau, course manager, the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District commissioners on Jan. 3 agreed to keep the 2016 rates for the upcoming season. Various rates were increased in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

The golf course adjusts its rates by spring, summer and fall golf seasons, and has rates for 9-hole or 18-hole rounds, senior and junior players, twilight golf, leagues and weekend afternoons.

Spring rates apply from the course opening in April until May 13. Rates are: 18 holes Monday through Friday $25 for residents and $30 non-residents; golf and cart rates $39 for residents and $49 for non-residents. Saturday and Sunday rates increase by $5.

Summer rates apply May 13 through Sept. 24. Rates are: 18 holes Monday through Friday $27 for residents and $37 for non-residents; golf and cart $42 for residents and $52 for non-residents.  Saturday and Sunday rates increase by $10.

Denklau surveyed 10 other golf courses in the South Suburbs and found Coyote Run rates were reasonably priced. He also started online tee time registrations and course specials that are drawing new golfers.

In 2016, the course set a record with 32,000 rounds. Denklau said 20,000 of those rounds were played in the summer months. He attributes some of the increase to golfers coming from Chicago.
