Irwin Center gets new meeting space

What was the Billiards Room at the Marie Irwin Center, 18120 Highland Ave. in Homewood, will soon be a conference room.

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District is converting the little-used space. Phil Knowles, director at the Irwin Center, said after the pool tables were sold, the space got a deep cleaning.

The wallpaper has been removed, the walls have been repainted and the old ceiling tiles have been removed. The park district is purchasing tables and chairs for the space.

The room, just off the main entrance, will allow for up to 30 people for meetings, Knowles said.

Hourly rental fees will be $30 for Homewood-Flossmoor Park District non-profits within park district boundaries; $35 for residents; $50 for non-profits outside of park district boundaries; and $55 for non-resident.

Knowles didn’t have an opening date for the space.
