Homewood considers measure limiting security grille styles

Homewood officials are proposing a change to building codes that would require businesses to use security grilles that meet the village’s aesthetic standards.

Trustees will consider amending the village zoning ordinance to prohibit “unslightly accordian and scissor-style gates,” according to a memo from Fire Chief Bob Grabowski.

He noted that more attractive security products are available.

In other business, Joe Mancini will take the oath of office as fleet supervisor in the Public Works Department, and trustees will consider a request from Joseph Bretz to consolidate two adjacent lots, 18123 Riegel Road and 1533 Ridge Road.

Trustees meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, in village hall, 2020 Chestnut Road.
