Glenwood resident Ron Zinnerman was appointed to the Homewood School District 153 board of education at the June 12 meeting.

Zinnerman replaces Steve Anderson, who resigned from the school board following his election to the Homewood-Flossmoor High School board of education in April.

Zinnerman and his wife, La’Shone, have lived in the school district for the past 14 years. They have three children, one at H-F High School and two in District 153.

A graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a degree in finance, Zinnerman currently is a North American Talent Acquisition Leader for Marsh & McLennan Companies. He previously served as the Head of Business Banking Recruiting for JPMorgan Chase.

District 153 President Shelly Marks said Tuesday that 10 people applied for the position but board members chose who they thought was the best candidate.

“Ron is going to be a great addition to the 153 school board,” she said.

The selection process included interviewing applicants for the board seat vacancy. Marks said it was very gratifying to see how many highly qualified people applied for the school board position.

“It says a lot about the community that there are people who are willing to step up and participate and help out the school district,” she said.

Marks explained the District 153 school board has a strong reputation for a specific reason: it has “outstanding board members.”

“We strive to make our schools the best they can possibly be,” Marks said. “Ron will continue in that tradition.”
