Free introductory Pilates session Saturday at racquet club

A free Pilates demonstration will be given at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, at the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District’s Racquet and Fitness Club, 2920 W. 183rd St., Homewood.

Instructor Liz Camacho said the session is meant to introduce residents to Pilates, a form of exercise that provides intentional, precise movement and stretches the core muscles as participants use several pieces of exercise apparatus.

The program is open to all ages interested in developing strength, flexibility and improved posture. Pilates is also a good exercise regime for people who have completed physical rehabilitation sessions, she said.

“People who do Pilates are becoming disciples of it,” she added. This program is in recognition of Pilates Day, an international day intended to make people aware of the Pilates method.

Camacho will demonstrate the latest equipment at the club, including two Allegro reformers, a ladder barrel, the tower and EXOchair.

Camacho offers several 55-minute Pilates sessions throughout the week. For additional information, call 708-799-1323 or visit hfracquetandfitness.com.
