Nature Block Party Saturday at East Side’s Eggers Grove

The Forest Preserves of Cook County invites the public to discover the flora and fauna of the urban preserves with a special day of activities during the annual Nature Block Party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 13.
Nature Block Party is free to attend, and will take place at Eggers Grove, 11201 S. Avenue B in Chicago’s East Side neighborhood.
During the event, attendees can enjoy a variety of activities, including hikes highlighting the Calumet Region, biking along the Burnham Greenway (bikes will be provided), as well as restoration projects such as removing invasive plants and cleaning up litter.
“We will have something for everyone at this event,” explains Program Coordinator Stephen DeFalco. “Nature Cat will be making an appearance for the little ones, Brookfield Zoo will be out with a live animal, community partners as well as forest preserves staff will also be providing everything from bird hikes and an insect petting zoo to art-making projects to take home and physical activities to get kids moving in nature.”
A complete listing of all programs is posted to the Forest Preserves events website at with seasonal brochures that can be downloaded. For more information on the event, call the forest preserves at 708-386-4042.
