He will serve at H-F through June 30, and then move to his new position as principal at Peotone High School.

Fantin joined the H-F staff in 2001 as a math teacher. He moved into administration in 2010, becoming dean of students responsible for student discipline, attendance and the general school climate. He was named assistant principal for the South Building in July 2013.

“We can’t begrudge him the opportunity,” said Superintendent Von Mansfield, adding his thanks for all Fatin did during his time with the district.

“I want to say thank you to the board, Dr. Mansfield and my colleagues for the help you’ve given me over the years,” Fantin said.

He said he’s spent what seems to be “the second half of my life” at H-F in the job that “helped prepare me like no other organization could.”

Fantin admitted it was a tough decision to leave H-F, but it also presented him an opportunity to take on a new role.

“The (H-F) students really helped me grow a lot and showed me what education is all about,” he said.
