Metra announces minor changes to electric line schedule

Metra will make several adjustments to the Metra Electric Line schedule on Nov. 5. The company said the changes are intended to better match train times with actual operating conditions and reduce congestion on the line.

The new schedule affects six weekday trains and push arrival times of all weekend mainline inbound trains back three minutes. These changes come after a review of a more comprehensive schedule revision that took effect on Sept. 11.

“Any time you undergo a schedule change of that magnitude, adjustments will need to be made,” said Metra CEO/Executive Director Don Orseno. “Our goal is always to use our trains in the most efficient way, and we will continue to monitor operating conditions and customer feedback to ensure we are meeting that goal.”

The changes include:

  • Train 203 will depart from Millennium Station at 6:16 a.m. instead of 6:38 a.m. to improve on-time performance of Train 506, which uses the same equipment.
  • Train 700 will depart from University Park at 6:38 a.m. instead of 6:40 a.m. to reduce congestion.
  • Train 111 will depart from Millennium Station at 7:45 a.m. instead of 7:43 a.m. to reduce congestion.
  • Train 738 will arrive at Millennium Station at 8:36 a.m. instead of 8:34 a.m. to better reflect actual operations.
  • Train 129, which departs Millennium Station at 3:45 p.m., will have a total of seven minutes added to its schedule to better reflect actual operations.
  • Train 236 will skip stops from 47th Street to 18th Street to speed up the trip. Train 336 will accommodate passengers at those stops.
  • All weekend mainline inbound trains arrive three minutes later to better reflect actual operations.
