Hiring event Oct. 27, readiness workshop Oct. 25

U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., will host the 5th Annual Hiring Event for residents of the 2nd Congressional District on Friday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to noon, in the gymnasium of South Suburban College, 15800 State St., South Holland.
Kelly represents Homewood and Flossmoor in Congress.
Prior to the hiring event, Rep. Kelly will sponsor a free Job Readiness Workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., in the Community Room of the Calumet City Public Library, 660 Manistee Ave. Instructors from the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership will teach job seekers interview skills, how to prepare a resume and strategies to successfully navigate hiring events.
Companies and agencies participating in this year’s hiring event include UPS, ComEd, Metra Rail, Comcast, Chicago Transit Authority, the U.S. Postal Service, MiJack, Franciscan Health, Lakeside Metals and the Cook County Sheriff’s Department.
