Lighthouse plans coming out storytelling event

Lighthouse LGBTQ+ is sponsoring a storytelling event in honor of National Coming Out Day. It is taking place from 7 to 8 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Community House, 847 Hutchison Road, Flossmoor.

Members of the area’s LGBTQ community will share coming out stories at the event. National Coming Out Day was Oct. 11.

According to a press release from Lighthouse, storytelling is essential to the passing of history, especially in the LGBTQ community.

“It is through these stories of our shared experience that we are able to create bonds, make memories and understand the context of how we gained and enjoy our current freedoms,” the press release states.

All members and allies of the LGBTQ community are welcome to the event.
