Harvey man charged after burglary of Homewood liquor store

A Harvey man is facing several charges after allegedly breaking into United Liquors at 17532 Dixie Highway in Homewood on April 4.

According to police, Orlando Murray, 29, of the 100 block of E. 155th St., entered the story shortly before 8 a.m. and left with alcoholic beverages, cigars and cigarettes.

When police stopped the vehicle Murray was driving, he fled on foot. He was soon apprehended and was placed under arrest without incident. Neither Murray or officers involved in the arrest were injured, according to a police spokesperson.

Homewood police recommended charges of burglary, attempt to elude police, driving with a suspended or revoked license and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.

According to court records, Murray had a bond hearing on April 6 and was given a $75,000 detainer bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday, April 25, for a preliminary hearing.
