Flossmoor resident honored as tennis co-captain

Kyle Scheffers of Flossmoor won numerous honors as co-captain of the Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, during his senior year.

An alumnus of Marian Catholic High School, Scheffers graduated from Trinity in May with a degree in economics. He is the son of Cathy and Todd Scheffers.

Scheffers’s strong academic record placed him on the 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team. He also was named to the 2018 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Spring All-Academic Team, and represented Trinity men’s tennis on the 2018 NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

Scheffers, who repeated on both the ITA and NESCAC All-Academic squads, was 5-10 as Trinity’s No. 2 singles player and 8-8 in doubles, including a 5-4 record at No. 1 in the lineup, in 2017-18. He finished his career with a 20-20 singles record and a 16-21 doubles mark.
