The Cancer Support Center’s special website will be open as of noon on Friday, Aug. 10, for bidding to begin on any of the specially designed and donated Adirondack chairs in its “Chairs for a Purpose” fundraiser.

More than four dozen brightly colored chairs are on display throughout Homewood as part of the celebration of the Cancer Support Center’s 25th anniversary. The center operates on donations, and fundraisers provide the bulk of the support so that cancer victims and their families can get services free of charge.

Bidding will only be done online at http://chairs2018.givesmart.com/

Supporters have until 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, to bid on the chairs. The bid winners are asked to retrieve their chairs at the Homewood Block Party in downtown Homewood.

“Chairs for a Purpose” started as part of the Village of Homewood’s 125th anniversary celebration. Sue Armato, executive director of the Cancer Support Center, wanted a way to join the village celebration and at the same time mark the center’s anniversary. The Homewood Business Association supported the project.
