Sale of village hall parking lot on trustees’ agenda Tuesday

Homewood trustees will consider a contract at the regular board meeting Tuesday to sell the village hall parking lot at 2024 Chestnut Road to a developer.

The property has long been on the village’s list of properties that could be put to use as transit-oriented residential and commercial developments. The village has a proposal from 107 Highwood Holdings to purchase the land for $355,000.

Trustees will also witness the oath of office administered to two staff members. Patrick McAneney will be sworn in as the new assistant director in the Public Works Department  and Darlene Leonard will be sworn in as administrative secretary in the Building Department.

In other business, the board will consider:

  • An agreement to terminate leasehold interest between the village and Izaak Walton Nature Preserve regarding a parcel of land the village is selling to Waterloo Railway.
  • The property tax levy for the fiscal year 2019-20.
  • A request for support of a Class 8 tax incentive proposal from Fleet Park LLC at 955 W. 175th St.
  • Liquor license requests from Southgate Mini-Mart and Asian Harbor Restaurant.
  • A renewal of the intergovernmental agreement with East Hazel Crest that would enable the villages to cooperate in developing a casino on land near Halsted Street and Interstate 80/294 if the state authorizes casino expansion into the South Suburbs.
  • An agreement with Alfred Ronan Ltd. for lobbying services.
  • A proclamation honoring Jean Sherrill on the occasion of her 100th birthday.
The board will meet at 7:30 p.m. in village hall, 2020 Chestnut Road.
