Watch 'Black Panther' character M'baku come to life at Cosplay Showoff

How would you make a superhero costume?

At its Cosplay Showoff program on Sunday, Homewood Public Library offers an inside look on costume creation connected to comic books, movies, video games and nerd culture.  Costume creation touches on science, technology, engineering, art and math.

This free event from 1 to 3 p.m. includes a demonstration of how elaborate costumes are constructed, including a M’baku cosplayer from the movie "Black Panther."

Attendees can hear from guest presenters, cosplayers Christopher English, Karissa Kosman, Monica Paprocki and Jenny Prado wearing their favorite creations. They will have samples of other creations on hand for people to explore and discuss.

There will likely be other cosplayers walking around the library in their own favorite creations, as well.

Emerging technologies assistant Tori Alt will give a demonstration on how to use worbla, a popular material used for armor and other creations in the cosplay world.
