Bloom High School squeezed by Homewood-Flossmoor High’s Vikings 57-53 in a heated rematch.

The Vikings lost another close one to the Blazing Trojans on Nov. 23 during the Chicago Heights Classic over Thanksgiving break.

After missing 17 free throws during their first match up, H-F nailed 13 out of 20 from the line last night.

Starting guard Damen Trice Jr. went down with calf cramps during the third quarter. Trice returned later but would ultimately exit the game with a little more than a minute left in the fourth quarter.

And to add insult to injury, starting forward Maurion Scott fouled out of the game with 1:49 left on the clock.

The Vikings started off the game 11-3 thanks to senior Oscar Parrish III who knocked down two quick threes.

Junior guard Donovan Newby hit multiple threes in the second quarter to give the Blazing Trojans the edge at halftime over H-F 33-27. Newby ended the night with 17 points.

Senior Issac Stanback led the Vikings with 21 points, but it wasn’t enough to stop guard Dante Maddox Jr., who scored acrobatically in the paint throughout the game and led Bloom with 19 points.

Viking junior R.J. Ogom slams down a ferocious
dunk early in the first quarter. Ogom transferred
from Marian Catholic High Schooll after his freshman
  year.
