Homewood trustees to consider business incentive request, sign variance

Homewood trustees will consider a business incentive fund request and a sign variance at their regular meeting Tuesday.

Vivek Pinto has applied for funding to help with the installation of a fire alarm system at 18673-18681 Dixie Highway in the Southgate shopping area. The request for $4,935 would cover half the fire alarm installation.

The sign variance request from Fratello’s Deli at 17929 S. Halsted St. is the second at that location. In addition to an earlier variance to exceed size restrictions, the company is asking for permission to place signs in east and south windows.

The board is also expected to appoint Timothy Biel to the village Ethics Committee.
In other business, the board will consider:

  • Annual reports from the Green Committee, Stormwater Resource Committee, Beautification Committee, Police Pension Board and Firefighter Pension Board.
  • Spending $57,474 to purchase two new police vehicles.
  • A $32,000 bid for pump replacement at Water Plant No. 2.
  • Renewing a contract for lobbying services.
  • Release portions of closed session minutes that no longer require confidentiality.
The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. in village hall, 2020 Chestnut Road.
