Registration open for Homewood and Flossmoor youth baseball and softball leagues

The first pitch of opening day is still a few months away, but youth baseball organizations and players are already gearing up for the season to start with registrations and winter workouts.

Homewood Baseball and Softball hosts 10 or more divisions of baseball, softball or T-ball play. The organization is holding two registration sessions in coming weeks at Willow School, 1804 Willow Road.

The first session will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 27, and the second will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 3.

Before registering in person, HBS requires online registration at www.homewoodplayball.com. Families should print the confirmation email they receive and bring it to the in-person registration at Willow School.

Both online and in-person registration is required.

The registration sessions are also an opportunity for parents to pitch in. The organization depends on volunteers to coach, run the concession stand and help with ball field maintenance.

Registration is open online for Flossmoor Baseball and Softball.

Flossmoor will have five baseball and two softball leagues. Fees for joining a league start at $70  for T-ball and go up to $145 for Pony League. FBS also is offering two free softball leagues for players in preschool through second grade.

Registration fees include winter workout. There will be six Sunday sessions to help players develop skills.  The first session was held Jan. 21, and they continue Jan. 28, Feb. 11, Feb. 28, March 11 and March 18.
