Village trustees welcomed Hillary Barker and Nihat Tasyurek as new members on the Flossmoor Green Commission. Barker is a 30-year resident of Flossmoor and her parents also live in the village. She is sustainability manager at McCormick Place.

Tasyurek is a relatively new Flossmoor resident, moving to the village with his family about a year ago from Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood. He previously worked for former State Rep. Kelly Cassidy (D-14th).

Flossmoor’s Green Commission works to consistently improve the local and global environment by organizing projects and learning sessions centered around recycling, sustainability and more. It meets at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at Flossmoor Village Hall.

Commission members assist on a volunteer basis by working at events, proposing new ideas and acting as ambassadors for environmental responsibility around the village.

  Brandon Loggins and
  Robert Rose are new
  members of the Flossmoor
  Zoning Board of Appeals.

Trustees also approved the appointments of two longtime residents to the village Zoning Board of Appeals. Robert Rose is executive director of the Cook County Land Bank Authority. Brandon Loggins is an attorney at the firm of Krohn & Moss.

The seven-member zoning board of appeals meets at 7:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month at Village Hall. Its volunteer members are tasked with considering appeals of ordinances related to zoning regulations and recommending them to the village board for further review.

All the appointments are effective immediately.
