Drama Group presents the musical ‘Fame’

The high-octane musical “Fame” will close out the 2017-18 season for the Drama Group.
 
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, July 27 and 28, and Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 2, 3 and 4. Matinee shows at 2 p.m. are on Sunday, July 29, and Saturday, Aug. 4. All shows are at the Drama Group’s Milord Studio Theatre, 330 W. 202nd St. in Chicago Heights.
 
“Fame” tells the story of the final class of New York City’s celebrated High School for the Performing Arts from their admission to graduation.  Characters take the audience through all their struggles, fears and triumphs — from prejudice to substance abuse — as these young artists navigate the worlds of music, drama and dance.
 
The musical has a number of recognizable songs, including the title song. This production is directed and choreographed by Liz Yerkovich. She shares her talents as a dance instructor at The Dance Company in Frankfort.
 
Among the 33 cast members are Michael Kennedy of Homewood and Mandy Sigala of Flossmoor. The production team includes musical director Angela Marciszewski of Flossmoor.
