Motorcyclist dies following vehicle crash on Halsted

A Steger man died Saturday when his motorcycle collided with a passenger vehicle in the 18200 block of Halsted Street in Homewood.

Kyle J. Ladewig, 37, was pronounced dead at Christ Hospital, according to the Homewood Police Department.

The accident happened about 10 a.m. on July 7. Police said a Nissan Altima was travelling northbound on Halsted and made a left turn into a parking lot. Ladewig, on his motorcycle, was traveling southbound on Halsted and made contact with the passenger side of the vehicle.

Homewood Fire Department personnel transported Ladewig to the hospital. The driver of the Nissan was not injured.

A spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said Ladewig died from multiple injuries resulting from a motorcycle-automobile collision.

The police department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is continuing the investigation with assistance from the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Unit at 708-206-3420.
