H-F Racquet & Fitness Club app helps users set goals, keep in contact

Yes, there’s an app for the Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet & Fitness Club.

The club’s administrative team, led by Shelley Strasser, membership sales and marketing supervisor, designed the mobile device app that went live July 1. It is primarily for members, but it also can be used by anyone interested in keeping track of activities and registering every step.

The app is segmented into tiles for your individual goals, training, workouts, challenges and more.

The new app is helping the club reduce its paper use, and the app barcode is also serving as a member’s entry badge into the club, she explained.

The app allows users to set goals or be part of in-club challenge workouts.

“You can tell the app you played tennis for an hour and it will figure out how many calories you burned,” she said.

Strasser finds the app is “motivating people and it lets you connect to your wearable device,” such as a Fitbit, a health and fitness smart watch that will automatically upload workouts. “Most of the (racquet club) equipment, you can take a picture of the screen and it will take all the information out of it and populate your (personal) site,” she added.

In addition, the club is installing the new MYE audio app that will make listening to programs easier for those who like to watch TV programs or listen to audio files while in the fitness center, she said.

The app has a two-week schedule of activities and other information about activities at the club.

Strasser said the racquet club staff teamed with NetPulse, app designers, in February and worked with them through the development stage. NetPulse gave them a product to test for about a month before the app went public.

The app can be downloaded for free from any app store.
