Runners, volunteers needed for special recreation 5K

The South Suburban Special Recreation Association and the Olympia Fields Park District are looking for runners and volunteers for the Saturday, May 19, Sock Hop Hustle 5K.
 
The event will begin at 9 a.m. at Sgt. Means Park in Olympia Fields.
 
The registration fee is $25 through April 29. Families or teams of three or more will pay a reduced fee of $15 each. The registration fee is $30 from April 30 to race day. 
 
The race is certified by USA Track & Field and recognized by the Road Runners Club of America. It will include age divisions from 14 and younger through 70 and over.  Children must be accompanied by an adult. 

First and second place prizes will be awarded in each age group.
 

At the conclusion of the race, the association is hosting a party including music, kids activities and a 1950s costume contest.
 
This benefit run will help support scholarships for individuals served by SSSRA who have varying degrees of physical disabilities, mental handicaps, learning disabilities, mental difficulties, hearing or visual impairments and developmental delays. SSSRA serves residents in the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District.
