Advocacy work for seniors, disabled wins Rep. Kelly special honors

Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., received the 2018 Impact Award from the Center for Disability and Elder Law for her advocacy on behalf of the legal rights of low-income seniors and people with disabilities in the Chicago region.

Kelly represents Homewood and Flossmoor in Congress.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by this remarkable organization for my efforts to support and defend our most vulnerable populations in the Chicagoland area and across the country,” said Kelly, who accepted the honor during the Center’s Winter Awards Benefit on Feb. 28.

“In this era where the rights of and resources for seniors and people living with disabilities are being undermined, I’m committed to defending benefits provided to seniors through the Affordable Care Act and protecting the Americans with Disabilities Act from this administration’s attacks.”

For nearly 34 years, the Center for Disability and Elder Law has provided free quality legal services to low-income seniors and people with disabilities in Cook County.
