Cancer Support Center gala marks 25th anniversary

The Cancer Support Center’s Annual Spring Gala is set for Friday, April 20, at The Odyssey, 19110 S. Ridgeland Ave. in Tinley Park.

This event, centered on a “Wizard of Oz” theme, includes a tribute to cancer survivors, dinner, silent auction, raffles, entertainment and more. Emmy Award-winning traffic/transportation anchor Roz Varon of ABC 7 Chicago will be on-hand as the program emcee for the evening.

Supporters also will celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Cancer Support Center.

The evening event opens with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and the awards presentation at 7:30 p.m., including the presentation of the Founders Award to Bridget and David Van Eekeren.

Entertainment begins at 9 p.m. with Blake Alexander performing R&B selections.

“Our gala this year is a journey to the Land of Oz where we focus on the strength that lies within each of us and how the center works diligently every day to help our participants find that strength,” said Sue Armato, executive director. “Since all of our supportive and wellness programs are offered free of charge, this gala is a key fundraiser that allows us to provide help, hope and healing to all who come through our doors. We hope our friends, old and new, will join us for this extra special night of celebrating our 25th anniversary.”

The cost for the Spring Gala is $125 per person and the event is black tie optional. After-party-only tickets are $50 and include cocktails and late night snacks.
