Man injured in Homewood traffic accident Thursday

A pedestrian was injured Thursday in a traffic accident along 183rd Street near Riegel Road in Homewood.

The victim, a man in his 60s, was struck by a single vehicle at about 2:56 p.m. on March 15, according to Homewood Deputy Police Chief Denise McGrath.

The vehicle traveled across a front yard and came to rest against a fence.

There were two occupants in the vehicle and neither was transported to the hospital, McGrath said. McGrath said the victim suffered traumatic injuries in the accident. He was hospitalized but is expected to recover from his injuries, she said.

The Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (SMART) was activated following the crash.

An investigation is underway and charges have not been filed at this time, McGrath said.
