District 233 business manager leaving in June

Ken Parchem, the business manager at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, is leaving to become the chief school business official at Lemont High School.

Parchem has been with District 233 for 13 years. He started his career as an accountant and went on to earn a certification for school finances.

Under his tenure, the district has received a AAA bond rating from Standard & Poors the past six years.

Parchem has presented balanced budgets each year, and works on a 10-year projection calendar that has allowed the district to set aside money for renovations each year, from parking lot repaving to roof replacement to this summer’s work on the natatorium, including updates to the swimming pool, bleachers and lockers and construction of classroom space.

He has served as the project manager on building projects, such as the North Building renovation. This year he has been working with representatives of DLA Architects on the proposed fine arts program additions.

“We wish him the very best and much success in his new position,” Superintendent Von Mansfield said.

Parchem will continue working on the 2018-19 budget before he leaves H-F in June. The district is looking for a replacement who can start July 1.
