A vehicle stolen on Oct. 16 in a carjacking incident has been recovered, according to Homewood police.

The vehicle was taken from a residence in the 17600 block of Briar Avenue after three assailants attacked the vehicle’s owner and demanded the keys.

The 2012 Honda Civic was recovered in Harvey on Wednesday, Oct. 17, according to Homewood police. The vehicle was unoccupied when it was found and was not significantly damaged.

The victim told police a man who was armed with a handgun grabbed him from behind about 9:30 p.m. while he was walking from his garage to his residence. The assailant was joined by two accomplices, and the three punched and kicked the victims until he gave them the keys to his vehicle, police said.

In addition to the victim’s vehicle, the three subjects fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan. Homewood police say the three assailants are African-American males, thin and about 6 feet tall. They are all approximately 20 to 25 years of age.
