The Parker cross-country boys and girls teams competed in the Illinois Elementary School Association State Meet in Normal the weekend of Oct. 13 and 14 to wrap up the season.

In the girls race, Samantha Gorton, Daija Brown, Emily Thompson, Haley Trojan, Caroline Schoen, Grace Mullin and Naima Douglas pushed the team to Parker’s best state meet performance ever, according to coach Mark Eichenlaub.

“We had a pretty successful end to the season,” he said.

The Parker girls placed 13th in the state as a team, with four girls breaking the 13-minute mark in the two-mile race. Haley clocked a 12:44 run, Caroline and Grace came in at 12:37 and Naima ran a school record and all-state performance of 11:53.

In the boys race, Gus Zillman, Damarion Best, Josh Moore, John Lampley, John Hockenberry, Bennett Reich and Dane Ivancevic achieved the team’s third best finish ever. They were 21st in the state as a team.

The boys had five runners break the 12-minute mark in the two-mile race, including Dane Ivancevic at 11:35, the all-time eighth-best Parker performance.
