Flossmoor police investigating fight at village festival

A police investigation is continuing into a fight at last weekend’s Flossmoor Fest.

Witnesses to the Sept. 8 incident saw fighting take place on Sterling Avenue, just north of Flossmoor Road, among members of a group of young people. At the end of the brief fight one of the youths went through a window at Coldwell Banker, 1056 Sterling Ave.

The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. on Saturday at the crowded festival, the village-sponsored annual street celebration in downtown Flossmoor.

Deputy Police Chief Tod Kamleiter said Wednesday that an investigation is still underway into the incident. He said he cannot release any information about any of the persons involved in the incident at this time.

The fight followed a verbal altercation that took place at Flossmoor Park, located on the opposite side of the Metra tracks from the festival, Kamleiter said.

After that, “several subjects got into a physical altercation” on Sterling, he said.

The incident was captured by closed circuit cameras in the downtown area and videos of the altercation are being reviewed by police, Kamleiter said.

Following the incident, one person was transported to the hospital and another was treated on the scene, Kamleiter said. He said he did not know the condition of either of those persons.
