Pair arrested, one man at large following Homewood car theft

Two men were arrested in Flossmoor Monday following the crash of a car that was reportedly stolen in Homewood, police said. According to Flossmoor police, a third man fled on foot into a neighborhood in the village. [Story updated Sept. 20 at 9:30 a.m.]

Two men were arrested in Flossmoor Monday following the crash of a car that was reportedly stolen in Homewood, police said.

According to Flossmoor police, a third man fled on foot into a neighborhood in the village. Police received reports of sightings of the man from residents of the Heather Hill neighborhood but were unable to locate him, according to a community alert from the Flossmoor Police Department.
 

On Tuesday, Homewood police identified the third man as Willie Banks, 25, of Chicago Heights.
 
In the community alert, Flossmoor police said the incident took place at about 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 17. The vehicle was taken from the 1800 block of 186th Place in Homewood, according to Homewood police.
 
The crash occurred at Western Avenue and Caddy Street in Flossmoor, police said. Following the crash the three occupants of the reportedly stolen vehicle fled the scene on foot. Two of the individuals were apprehended shortly after that by Homewood police within a few blocks of the crash, but the third individual fled westbound, across the railroad tracks into Heather Hill.

Homewood police said a 17-year-old juvenile has been charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle.
