Flossmoor Mayor Paul Braun received a recognition from the Knights of Columbus Marian Council 3764 for his support of the organization’s annual Tootsie Roll fundraiser. Marian Council deputy grand knight Bob Major presented Braun with the recognition.

Afterward, he gave a donation to Flossmoor Trustee and council grand knight Brian Driscoll for the Tootsie Roll fundraiser. The money raised during Tootsie Roll days supports Illinois Special Olympics and services for people with disabilities in the south suburbs.

According to Driscoll, the two-day fundraiser usually raises about $6,000, with 100 percent of the proceeds being donated—minus the cost of the Tootsie Rolls.

Members of K of C Marian Council will be collecting donations at multiple Flossmoor locations, including the train station, on Sept. 21 and 22.
