Bus safety video to be unveiled at village board meeting Tuesday

Homewood Police Chief Bill Alcott will present a new public service video at the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees on Tuesday. The video, produced by the village in collaboration with Homewood School District 153, is aimed at improving safety around school buses. The board will also consider a request to support a class 8 property tax relief designation for a proposed cigar lounge and restaurant at 18237 Kedzie Ave.

The agenda also includes:

  • Appointments and reappointments to the village Community Relations Committee, Appearance Committee and Economic Development Committee.
  • An application to the Illinois Department of Transportation to designate Western Avenue from 183rd Street to Heather Road as a Federal Aid Urban route, which if granted would enable the village to apply for federal funding for maintaining the road. 
  • Replacement of 67 leased computers.
  • Purchase two vehicles for the Fire Department.
  • A bid for the village’s sticker-free leaf pickup program.
  • Purchase of four mowers for the Public Works Department. 
  • A bid for sand blasting and painting fire hydrants.
The board will meet at 7 p.m. in the meeting room of village hall, 2020 Chestnut Road.
