There are more than 600 employees working full- and part-time for the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District, under the supervision of a managerial staff.

Debbie Kopas, Executive Director
I work with the Board of Park Commissioners to execute the mission of the park district and bring exceptional recreational programs and facilities to our community.  I have compiled a team of exceptional professionals to lead the district, managing a $13 million budget and over 600 employees.

Doug Boehm, Superintendent of Parks and Planning
The parks department is responsible for planning, maintaining and improving the park system.  We handle everything from grass and tree trimming to planting flowers. We prepare athletic fields for youth sports, junior high cross country meets, running races, concerts and hundreds of park shelter reservations for citizen-hosted parties. We maintain Lions Pool and the Splash Pad. The crew has the privilege of making a positive difference in someone’s life every day.

Stephanie Simpson, Superintendent of Recreation and Ice Arena Manager
My job at the park district is very rewarding because I know that the things I do each day are helping members of our community create memories that will last a lifetime.  Whether it is in a class, at an event or just playing in a park, what we do is improve the quality of life for those choosing to participate, and that is a great feeling.

Sharon Dangles, Superintendent of Finance and Administration
My job at the park district is being responsible for the administrative planning, organizing and managing of the accounting and financial aspects, as well as general business affairs of park district operations.  In this position, I’m also responsible for the systems administration, human resources and risk management.

Eileen Rohrer, Racquet & Fitness Club Manager
I began my career here as a bookkeeper, then office supervisor and for the past two years facility manager. The club has been my home for the past 28 years. I’ve had the privilege of meeting and working with so many wonderful people who have made this place so special. My goal is to continue operating the club with the same high standards the community has come to expect and to keep this wonderful facility going strong for years to come.

Tom Denklau, Coyote Run Golf Course General Manager/Head Pro
My job is golf operations.  Whether you are a junior or adult, seasoned golfer or new to the game, I would welcome the opportunity to teach you the game of a lifetime. I also oversee Wiley’s Grill at the clubhouse that is managed by Shari Klein.

Dave Ward, Superintendent of Golf
I am responsible for the maintenance of Coyote Run Golf Course, including: supervising a staff of 12, providing high quality playing conditions, managing turfgrass disease control and fertility programs and initiating and managing sound environmental practices.

Cheryl Vargo, Irons Oaks Manager
My job is to manage the Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center.  I am involved in getting people outdoors through recreation, education and adventure. This includes providing an environment for people to discover the wonders of nature while exploring the grounds or making personal discoveries through team building, climbing or high ropes courses.

Darren Jasieniecki, Marketing & PR Manager
I help promote the wide-range of programs and events that are held at park district facilities. I create and manage the production of all promotional materials, as well as through outdoor signage, digital displays, websites, posters, emails, newsletters and social media.
