The event in Flossmoor will take place in the east parking lot at village hall, 2800 Flossmoor Road. There will be treats and activities for all.

In Homewood, the party will happen at Irwin Park, 18120 Highland Ave.

The evening is filled with food from local eateries and fun activities for families, including water balloon toss games between kids and police officers, ice cream eating contest, face painting and a hula hoop contest.

There will be a medical helicopter landing and a variety of emergency vehicles on display. In the past, youngsters have gotten a chance to take a brief tour of the helicopter and talk with members of the crew.

Community organizations will be on hand to provide information, including Homewood Science Center and South Suburban Family Shelter.

James Hart School and H-F High School will be represented and will provide information about the Snowflake and Snowball programs and drug and bullying prevention programs.

The Homewood Community Relations Committee members will hand out blue light bulbs at the Aug. 3 Farmers’ Market and at National Night Out. The blue light bulbs are to be placed in porch lights to show their support and solidarity for the Homewood Police Department.
